Flash Backs of Anita Hill

The recent events surrounding anonymous allegations by unidentified women allegedly harassed by now candidate Herman Cain sickens me. The alleged incidents happened more than a decade ago. My question to Cain’s “victims” is why come forward now?
This takes me on a trip in Mr. Peabody’s way-back machine to 1991 when President George H. W. Bush nominated Clarence Thomas to fill a vacancy on the U. S. Supreme Court. During the confirmation hearings, Democrats opposing Thomas pulled out what they considered a double trump card: a black woman who accused Thomas of sexual harassment years before his nomination. At least Anita Hill had the courage to testify before the Senate committee considering Thomas’ nomination, something the three women who are now accusing candidate Cain obviously lack.
Anita Hill’s charges, supported by heated partisan rhetoric by the Democratic left, failed to derail Thomas’ assent to the Supreme Court.
The charges against Cain did not surface until he became a Republican front-runner. How convenient for the left. Nothing scares the hysterical Left as much as a popular, conservative black man.
I hope that, like Clarence Thomas, these dubious, politically motivated charges do not derail Herman Cain’s campaign for the Republican nomination.
I suggest Cain’s accusers read the 6th Amendment, especially the part that states “…the accused shall enjoy the right…to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him….”
But then, the Constitution doesn’t mean anything to the Left anyway.
It’s Not My Fault
Ever notice how everyone who considers themselves a liberal never takes responsibility for their own actions?
A few days ago, violence broke out during one of the pseudo-events staged by Occupy Oakland. After the riot, the leaders of the movement were whining about being “infiltrated” by those nasty old anarchists.
I also offer President B. Hussein Obama as exhibit number one. Like a child who hasn’t gotten his way, the President blames someone else. First, it’s those mean old Republicans. Then it’s Congress. Then it’s those terrorists in the T.E.A. Party. Then he blames the rest of us who he says get bitter and cling to our guns and our religion.
Well, Mr. President, for a smart guy you can really be stupid. Perhaps you should look at yourself and your policies before you spread blame.
Unemployment Rate Falls
This was the headline on a Fox News story posted Saturday, November 5. However, as you read deeper into the story, the news is dismal.
The unemployment rate fell a measly 0.1 per cent to 9.0 per cent.
Officially, there are still over 14 million Americans out of work. If the unemployment numbers included those who have stopped looking or whose benefits have run out, the official unemployment rate would more than double. Additionally, unemployment numbers do not count people looking for their first jobs or those that are not eligible for unemployment benefits.
It gets worse.
More than one-third of the unemployed have been without a job for more than a year. At the same time, the number of unemployed receiving benefits has decreased from 75 per cent to 48 per cent as they begin to lose their unemployment benefits.
The U. S. Census Bureau estimates that unemployment benefits have kept some 3.2 million people from falling below the official poverty level, according to Fox News. However, a record 45.5 million Americans are now on Food Stamps.
Americans on average have been unemployed for an average of 39 weeks, the longest in 63 years.
Americans, whether working or not, must ask themselves the question candidate Ronald Reagan asked in 1981: “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” When you answer that question, remember who has been at the wheel steering the economy into a ditch.
A Final Thought on Herman Cain

I once considered Herman Cain to be one of my top four picks to be the next president of the United States. Now, I must eliminate him from consideration.
The recent anonymous, unsubstantiated, allegations of sexual harassment against Mr. Cain are not the reason I have eliminated him from contention. It is the way he has handled these allegations.
As our experience with President Obama glaringly shows, we need a leader who is honest and forthright. When a problem arises, it must be addressed quickly, openly, and honestly. Herman Cain has not handled this issue like a man who would be president.
First, he denied the allegations, and then he cheaply blamed Rick Perry and his staff. This is not how a president should act.

So, the left is outraged by Herman Cain’s alleged sexual harassment, of which almost nothing is known for certain, and nothing actually proved, even after a couple of weeks of constant sniping, barking, so-called revelations, and almost no real journalism. Such compassion for the alleged victims and such deep concern for the integrity of the electoral process. Such moral hand-wringing. Uh-huh. Sure.
What is the stern finger-pointing really about? Come on, it’s not about some purported abusive maybe-kinda semi-misbehavior. I thought sexual harassment was no big deal for liberals and leftists. “It’s just sex” … remember? Real, flagrant, repeated, dishonorable, sneaky, revel-in-it, randy larks of pure lust, and not an ounce of respect for partner or self or country. Does that sound like what Herman Cain did, or may have done? Even the worst accusations fall far short of that, because even they note that nothing actually occurred; no coercion, no force, no act. No proof, just drooling talk about unsubstantiated claims. This is all faux moral outrage. And opportunism.
The hoopla about Herman Cain is just politics, no more, no less. Accusations of sexual misconduct? Please. For the left, it doesn’t really matter what Cain did or didn’t do. Oh, it matters how he handles such things because that’s a fair illumination into his presidential capabilities and the public’s confidence in him. But the harassment issue? No proof needed. The accusation is enough.
The real issue for leftists has nothing to do with sex. Ever. It has everything to do with politics. Always. And, folks, ’tis the season of politics. Unless you’re still blind and still willfully ignorant, you know that leftists live for the election/campaign cycle. And anything goes. Just win, baby. Shoot first and dismiss any questions except the left’s own scurrilous gutter talk. You think you’ve seen the end of this sort of stuff, or the worst of it? Better steel yourself. We have a year to go.
Mr. Cain cheaply blamed the Rick Perry campaign AND the so-called “liberal” media. I find that funny, since the very same “liberal” media then also ruined many a “liberal” Democrat political campaign or career. How could we ever forget Clinton, Gary Hart and John Edwards.
The lack of facts or sources never seems to get in the way of the lame street media. I wish I could forget Gary Hart and especially John Edwards.
