An Open Letter to Congress Part 1

To all the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate:

We, the people, spoke last November and swept the majority of into office because of your campaign promises.

You all have made similar promises, promises to repeal Obamacare, restructure the tax code, and balance the budget.

We also want you to take steps to eliminate the national debt, return to the rule of law, and to drain the swamp that is Washington, D.C.

Words are cheap.

We are closely watching what you do, and so far, you have failed.

We have a warning for all of you from any political party: Do what we ask.  Period.  As my father would say, we want no ifs ands or buts.

It is called integrity.

If you fail us, if you break our trust, the only way you will ever see Washington, D.C., again will be through the windows of a tour bus.

Since most of you are career politicians who spend your days wheeling and dealing, peddling lies, corruption, influence, while pursuing obstructive self-interest and party political gain, it is clear that none of you have a clue what integrity means.

Integrity is defined as an adherence to moral and ethical principles; having a soundness of moral character; honesty, the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished.

Your constituents demand integrity, the alignment of your words and your deeds.

To act without integrity makes you undependable, corrupt, a liar, and unfit to clean the toilets in your respective legislative chambers, let alone the privilege of representing the people of your respective states.

We are weary of your ineffectiveness, your sloth, your blatant, self-serving submission to the lobbying class, and your cowardice.

In fear, you retreat from your responsibilities to us.  You refuse to effectively and boldly, face the issues that plague our nation out of fear you will lose the next election, or fear that you may offend a big donor, whether they are the likes of George Soros or the Koch brothers.

You serve us.  You have sworn to uphold the Constitution.  To do less is malfeasance of office and blatant cowardice.

The nation is in trouble.  We can no longer kick the proverbial can down the road.  The time is NOW.

I am the son of a working man and a stay-at-home mom.  My father and my brother served our nation with honor through military service.

It is your sacred duty to all veterans, living and dead, and to every citizen of the United States of America, to save this great country from its pending destruction, both financial and social.

The Republic is Under Attack

The foundation of our Republic is under attack.  It is not from an external power, or even a terrorist state.  The Republic is under attack from a nefarious group of termites knowing its structure: The unelected, privileged class of the shadow government, or dark state, of entrenched bureaucrats.

These individuals, many who are holdovers from the Obama administration, are engaging in agenda-driven activities to undermine the new president, his policies, and his staff.

It could be argued that their discontent with President Trump is legitimate and, even as a public employee who serves at the pleasure of the president, they have a protected right to speak out against him.  Their discontent is not at issue rather it is their actions that I question.

The case of General Flynn, the president’s former national security advisor, clearly illustrates the danger of an extra-constitutional, unaccountable arm of the dark state populated by partisan bureaucrats who think that they, and their opinions, are superior to those of the people and our duly elected officials.

In the Flynn case, credible reports have surfaced that individuals in the so-called “intelligence” community have used the resources designed to protect the nation to bring down a political opponent with half-truths and unsubstantiated innuendo.

In addition, ever since the election, the dark state of intelligence gatherers has been “leaking” sensitive national security information to the media in attempts to embarrass the president and derail his foreign policy.

This disruption and breach of security is unprecedented.  At best, it is espionage; at worst, it is treason.

The president must step up efforts to investigate and ferret out the individuals responsible.  At a minimum, he must remove those responsible from their positions, ban them from government whether as a direct employee or contractor, and pursue criminal prosecution.

The secular progressives in their deranged opposition to President Trump will characterize the spies spying on the president as whistleblowers.

Mule fritters!

They are rogue bureaucrats who are willing to sacrifice individuals, national security, and the rule of law, on the godless altar of their own self-centered ideology.  In their utopian fantasy world, the only rule is the ends justify the means, no matter who gets hurt or what damage is caused.

More than 62 million people voted for Donald Trump.  He received 304 electoral votes.  We all have the right to disagree and to protest what the president does or does not do.  However, he is the president and he must govern as he sees fit within the constraints of the constitution and the rule of law. 

Opposition to his policies must also conform to the same principles.  Ordered liberty and our constitutional republic depend on the rule of law to which we all must conform, even the secular progressive subversives in the privileged elite of the dark state.

Time to Stand Up and say, ‘Enough!

I am angry.

I am angry that no one is standing up to the insanity that is being perpetrated by the progressive-socialist Democrats (PSD) through the government, the mass media, and the schools.

Have Americans become too stupid and out of touch to care or has their spirit been crushed by the constant proselytizing of the PSD establishment?  Have we become a nation of zombies controlled by the state or do we still have the courage to stand and fight for what is right and good?

It is time for everyone who cares about what this nation used to stand for to stand up and say Enough!

It is time to take America back.

Do we want an America where a second grader is suspended from school for eating a pop-tart into the shape, the shape, of a gun?

Yes, this actually happened.  Glenn Beck reports on The Blaze,

When you’re a kid you do a lot of stuff that might get you into trouble, but do you believe that making a “pop-tart gun” is one of them?

Don’t know what a Pop-Tart gun is?  Well, it’s when you eat a Pop-Tart until it’s in an “L” shape and then you hold the short end.  So if you really, really use your imagination it looks like a small, fruity gun.

“We have a second grader, another student has been suspended for something that represents a gun but isn’t anything like a gun.  Josh Welch, second grader at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, Maryland, suspended for two days because his teacher thought he shaped the strawberry prebaked toaster pastry into something resembling a gun,” Beck said.

If the kid hadn’t been suspended for the “lethal pop tart,” his parents would probably been arrested by the food police for not providing an “approved” nutritional meal.

The insanity continues.  According to WFTX-TV Fox 4 in Tampa, Florida,

A 16-year-old Cypress Lake High School student, who wrestled a loaded revolver away from a teen threatening to shoot, is being punished.

The student grappled the gun away from the 15-year-old suspect on the bus ride home Tuesday after witnesses say he aimed the weapon point blank at another student and threatened to shoot him.

The student says he wrestled the .22 caliber RG-14 Revolver away from the suspect, a football player, who witnesses say threatened to shoot a teammate because he had been arguing with his friend.

“No doubt,” the student said, “he was going to shoot him point blank.”

As if this kind of thing wasn’t bad enough, CNS News reports that the Obama Justice Department is arguing in the United States Supreme Court that children do not need — and have no right to — mothers.

Yes, you read that correctly. 

Arguments are being presented before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that will determine the constitutionality of California Proposition 8, which amended the state Constitution to say that marriage involves only one man and one woman.

So far, in the history of the human race, no child has ever been born without a biological father and mother.  Now, in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Executive Branch of the federal government is arguing that, regardless of the biological facts of parenthood, states have no legitimate and defenisble interest in ensuring that children conceived by a mother and a father are in fact raised by mothers and fathers.

The brief that the Justice Department presented to the Supreme Court discussed children only as items controlled by others, not as individual human beings who have God-given rights of their own.  It simply assumes that a child has no inherent right to a mother or father and that the only right truly in question is whether two people of the same-sex have a right to marry one another and that that right encompasses a right to adopt and foster-raise children.

To take this view and be consistent with the principles of the Declaration of Independence — which recognizes the ultimate authority of the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” and says that “all men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights” — the Obama Justice Department must advance the assumption that natural law and Nature’s God give children no right to a mother and father and no right not to be legally handed over by the government to be raised by same-sex couples.

Finally, proof has been unearthed that in order to achieve total control over the population, the Obama Department of Justice doesn’t want to ban guns, it wants to confiscate them.

According to Red Flag News,

The National Rifle Association has obtained a Department of Justice memo calling for national gun registration and confiscation. The nine page “cursory summary” on current gun control initiatives was not officially released by the Obama administration.

The DOJ memo (downloadable here as a PDF) states the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation,” according to the NRA, and thinks universal background checks “won’t work without requiring national gun registration.”

Add this to the fact that Vision to America reports

“According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,717 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).”

The Sad State of the American Political Mind

Vice President Joe Biden finally said something that, unfortunately, makes sense.

Yesterday (January 31) Politico reported the Vice President conceding that gun laws offer no guarantees.

“Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year from what we’re at now,” Biden told reporters after meeting with Senate Democrats in the Capitol.

That is the good part.  The fact that someone in Washington actually recognizes the fact that more laws won’t do any good is encouraging.  Conservatives have been saying this since the first gun laws were proposed.

Welcome to the real world, Mr. Vice President.

However, the Vice President made another statement.  According to Politico,

“I believe that the American people will not understand and I think everyone in there, I know everyone in that caucus agrees with me, will not understand if we don’t act,” Biden said.

Biden is probably right in believing his colleagues in the Senate and House want “to do something.”  The problem is first, most Americans disagree, and second, both houses of Congress have a bad habit of “doing something, even if it is wrong.”

As I have written in this blog before, there are two competing ideas clashing in this country.  One is the Constitution and the limits it places upon the government, including the process.  The second is the PSD and their myopic focus on control, which leads to the “do anything, but do it now” mania in Congress.

Conservatives and, I think, most Americans believe that creating a massive federal web of restrictions on gun ownership, creating massive databases through universal registration and background checks, and linking all this data with the Department of Homeland Security and the national healthcare system, is a very dangerous threat to our privacy and our personal freedom.

President Obama and his lackeys like Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) are dangerously out of touch with the American public and their proposals will lead only to tyranny, not safety.

DHS Source Warns of Government-Incited Violence Against Citizens in United States

In my post on April 2, 2012, I reported on the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) purchase of more than 600 million rounds of high-powered ammunition to arm its agents.  (See Is Obama Readying for War on Americans?

In that article, I postulated on the potential reasons behind this domestic arms buildup.  I surmised that the president might ignore the U.S. Supreme Court if it rules against ObamaCare and use force to bend us to his will. 

I also thought that perhaps Obama, in his quest for power and control, would try to forcefully disarm Americans.  Worst case, when Obama loses the election in November, he could use force to ignore the Constitution and the will of the people and remain in office.

I was wrong.  The situation is far worse than I ever could have imagined.

According to a source deep inside DHS, Barack Hussein Obama and his minions are planning to pit American against American in a violent civil war in order to seize control and remain in power indefinitely.

I first stumbled upon news of this Wednesday through an article on The Patriot Post website titled “Obama to Stage ‘Reichstag’ Event as Trigger for Martial Law?”  Of course, the mainstream media has remained deaf, dumb, and blind to this information to protect their dear leader.

According to The Patriot Post article, “The Obama agents, through the DHS and other assorted colluders, are plotting a major ‘Reichstag’ event to generate racial riots and produce the justification for martial law, delaying the November 2012 elections, possibly indefinitely, a DHS whistleblower informed the Canada Free Press on Tuesday.

The article continues, stating:

The ‘Reichstag Event’ would take the form of a staged assassination attempt against Barack Obama, “carefully choreographed” and manufactured by Obama operatives.  It would subsequently be blamed on “white supremacists” and used to enrage the black community to rioting and looting, the DHS source warned.

The Obama administration would then use the violence and chaos they created as justification for the imposition of martial law in major urban cities in America, the creation of DHS checkpoints, restriction of travel, and the indefinite delay of the November 2012 elections.

The Reichstag event refers to a fire started during Hitler’s rise to power.  The fire allowed him to grab emergency powers and murder his opposition.  Historians have long believed that Hitler started the fire himself, while he blamed it on the Communists.

When it comes to rumors of plots and conspiracies, I am a skeptic.  However, I am also wary and suspicious of government power, and those who wield it — especially Obama and his merry band of revolutionaries. 

After reading the original story online in the Canada Free Press, my skepticism was replaced with fear and loathing.  The reporter, Doug Hagmann, and his source are credible; the president and his curruptocrats are not.

Through any number of incidents, most notably the Fast and Furious scandal, the president and his subordinates have proven themselves not only incompetent and incapable of governing this nation, but that they have a blood lust for power and control for which they will stop at nothing to satiate.

Hagmann says, “Metaphorically speaking, there’s a revolution going on in the U.S., propped up by three legs.  Economic chaos, chaos through racial division, and chaos through class division, all joined by one core element: Barack Hussein Obama and his stable of unelected czars.  Obama is using the lessons learned in 1968 as the template for 2012, and many of those who were active in the late 1960s are now calling the shots for 2012.”

Hagmann continues, stating,

“The Obama administration and many of the un-elected ‘czars,’ either directly or indirectly, are engaged in covert activities with the occupy movement, various labor protests, and other subversive activities inside the U.S.,” stated my source.  “Using untracked campaign funds, they are paying people to infiltrate the various movements to cause physical destruction of property and disrupt commerce.  That began last year, but has increased ten-fold already this year,” stated this source.  He added that they are using some lower level DHS agents to make the payments under the context of tracking subversives, but they are the unwitting subversives.  “It’s like Fast & Furious” but in the social realm,” he added. 

There it is.  Is this the ramblings of a disgruntled bureaucrat or the profile of a would-be dictator a la Fidel Castro?  You decide.  Read Hagmann’s Canada Free Press article and let me know what you think.

Change We Can’t Live With

In the 2008 campaign candidate Obama promised us hope and to fundamentally change America. 

It is as plain as day to everyone, except the automatons on the far left, that the fundamental changes Obama has initiated are destructive and have brought despair rather than hope to an increasing number of Americans.

Obama, along with his cadre of crooks, cronies, and communists, have shredded the Constitution and the principles embedded in the Declaration of Independence.  If his policies are extended to their logical end, we will live not in the great republic that is the United States of America, but in a totalitarian state where there are no rights except those that the mastermind grants at his pleasure.  And, like all tyrants throughout human history, the rights granted can be rescinded at any time, without warning or due process.

All hail King Obama I.  B. Hussein Obama is no better than King George III.  In case you don’t remember your American History lessons, we fought a war to free ourselves from far less tyranny than we suffer now — The American Revolution.

Every day I receive dozens of emails and scan reams of web pages.  Every day I read of more corruption, more deceit, and ever-increasing onslaughts on, and atrocities perpetrated against, our civil liberties, Constitutional limitations on the power of government, and the rule of law.

While Obama and the crackpots and dunderheads in Congress are easy targets, and indeed we must usher in a regime change, we must also seek and destroy all vestiges of statism.

Statism is the foundation of the political Left.  The fundamental principle of statism is that humans cannot be trusted to run their own lives and that all human and civil rights are derived not from God, but from government and those who control it.  Statism is the antithesis of liberty and freedom.

Statism is also contrary to the principle of the rule of law as instead of the certainty and inherent fairness and equality of an equal application of the law; statism is capricious and subject to the whims of the beloved leader.

Our freedom is based upon the rule of law, individual rights, and limited government; all of which are outlined in, and guaranteed by, the Constitution.  The statists, led by Obama and his fellow travelers, are hell bent on destroying these basic principles.

It is in the anti-human, anti-liberty, anti-freedom godless principles of statism where the ultimate danger to our continued existence as a free, powerful, and prosperous nation lies.

If the United States fails to remain the last best hope for freedom, the rest of the globe will follow into the abyss of an economic, and social, dark ages from which it may never again escape.

The decisions we make in November will not only chart the course for the United States, but perhaps for the future of the human race. 

Choose wisely and pray to God that enough of our fellow citizens make the right choice for the choice is simple: freedom and prosperity or slavery.

UN ‘Study’ Threatens Liberty

Americans have become indolent and as such have become, as Curran said, prey to the active.  The active in this case is the Left.  Whether they call themselves progressives, liberals, or social democrats, they are all the same and for the past 100 years, they have been actively, albeit quietly, stealing our liberty.

Now, liberty, both here and abroad, faces a new enemy: the United Nations.

They too have been a silent and creeping adversary to liberty, eroding our God-given rights through the complicity of fellow travelers within every level of our government.

First it was the UN Declaration on Human Rights, an oh so noble sounding document that threatens our rights under the Constitution.  Then the Kyoto Accords tried to establish global governance of pollution control.  The UN Law of the Sea Treaty would have limited the rights of our commercial and war ships to free access to the world’s oceans.

One of the most insidious is Agenda 21, a UN fantasy of sustainable development that many local agencies use as a template to control how private property is used. 

The most blatant attack on our fundamental liberty is the proposed UN Small Arms Treaty.  This treaty, supported by the president and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is a global power grab to disarm the world’s population. 

The UN Small Arms Treaty is a direct violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  But then, the Constitution is superfluous to B. Hussein Obama and the Dragon Lady.

This brings me to the most recent attempt at one world government by the United Nations.

According to a Fox News article, the UN is set to issue planet-wide rules governing food production and water.

“An environmental report issued by an agency of the United Nations last month has some critics sounding the alarm, saying it is a clarion call for ‘global governance’ over how the Earth is managed.

“The report, ‘21 Issues for the 21st Century,’ from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Foresight Process, is the culmination of a two-year deliberative process involving 22 core scientists,” according to Fox News.

The scientists who wrote the report say it merely “…focuses on identifying emerging issues in the global environment, and that it is not about mandating solutions.”  They claim the UN report,

“…suggests actions to save humanity from starvation, the overheating planet and the collapse of the world’s oceans — options that include new “constitutional frameworks,” “international protocols” and a “shared vision” for land and water management that essentially rewire existing treaties and governments.”

However, according to Fox News, their critics disagree, saying it is just a precursor to one-world government by UN fiat.

“This is more utopianism, pie-in-the-sky pleading for ‘global governance,’ including what they acknowledge as ‘novel governance arrangements,’ including, ‘alliances between environmentalist and other civil society groups,’” charged Chris Horner, author of Red Hot Lies: How Global Warming Alarmists Use Threats, Fraud and Deception to Keep You Misinformed, and a senior fellow for energy and environment at the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) in Washington, D.C.

The progression is clear.  Take away your property rights, control your human rights, control access to the seas, take away your guns, and then control food and water.  This is the Left’s ultimate fantasy come true.

Liberty in the United States and abroad is in danger and its enemy is the collection of thugs, thieves, despots, and corruptocrats called the United Nations and their supporters on the political Left.

The only way we can make our liberty secure is to purge our government, from the local dog catcher to the president, of everyone who hates America and for what it has stood for 236 years.  Only then can we limit the dark and insidious creep of global tyranny. 

The fight starts here on November 6. Be vigilant, not indolent.

The Value of Capitalism, The Fallacies of the Left, and Other Thoughts

Apple Worth More than Greece

Last week CNN Money reported that the value of Apple on the stock market rose to over $400 billion.  Considering the wild success of their products, this is not surprising.  However, what is surprising, at least to the clueless dolts on the Left, is that the value of Apple exceeds the value of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the near-bankrupt nation of Greece.

According to CNN Money, “Apple’s market cap is higher than the gross domestic product of Greece, Austria, Argentina, or South Africa.”  In fact, according to the blog Things Apple is Worth More Than, Apple is worth more than a lot of things like this:

“The retail value of consumed beef in the U.S. was 74 Billion dollars in 2010.  26.4 billion pounds were consumed.  At a market cap of 390 billion, Apple is worth more than all the steaks and cook out goodies for an entire year in the United States.”

In contrast, Greece, with its cradle-to-grave nanny entitlement state, spent and taxed itself to the brink of oblivion.  If they don’t solve their self-induced socialist problem, modern Greece, once considered the cradle of Western civilization, will fail and garner only a brief mention in the annals of world history.

Supreme Court Rules Against Warrantless Electronic Search

The United States Supreme Court ruled unanimously yesterday that police attaching a GPS tracking device to suspect’s car constitutes a search as defined by the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

According to the syllabus of the case (United States v. Jones) released yesterday, the Court in their 9-0 ruling, held that the government attaching a GPS device to a vehicle and using it to monitor the vehicle’s movement constitutes a search under the Fourth Amendment.

According to the case syllabus,

The Fourth Amendment protects the “right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.”  Here, the Government’s physical intrusion on an “effect” for the purpose of obtaining information constitutes a “search.”  This type of encroachment on an area enumerated in the Amendment would have been considered a search within the meaning of the Amendment at the time it was adopted.

The Birth Certificate That Will Not Die

World Net Daily (WND) reports that President Obama is facing challenges to his placement on various state ballots because he is not constitutionally qualified to be president.

According to the WND article, President Obama is not a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution.  They argue that by the 18th century definition supported, according to the report, by a 19th century Supreme Court decision, that natural born citizenry requires two citizen parents.  According to the president’s own book Dreams of My Father, his father was Kenyan, thus disqualifying him.

The merits of this argument notwithstanding, it is time to forget about whether B. Hussein Obama is a natural born citizen and concentrate on his lack of ability which is leading us down the path of destruction and remove him from office permanently.

Extra-constitutional Rule

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued an order last Friday stating that religious-affiliated hospitals and universities MUST provide birth control without charging co-pay or deductibles beginning August 1, 2013.

This rule is a blatant attack on the principles of religious freedom as stated in the First Amendment to the Constitution.  “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof….” 

What part of NO does Secretary Sebelius not understand? 

NO is the operative concept guiding the entire Constitution.  This onerous new rule steps far beyond the bounds of the First Amendment prohibitions. 

The First Amendment is crystal clear about interfering with our right to freely exercise one’s religion WITHOUT interference from the government.

One can only hope that the Supreme Court has the Constitutional sense to strike down ObamaCare in its entirety this summer and relegate this rule to the incinerator.

The Spirit of ‘Common Sense’

America is collapsing under the cruel yoke of an ever-expanding, tyrannical government.  Our personal freedoms, our very liberty as free men and women, are in imminent danger. 

The Constitution that governed our government for more than two centuries is at best, misinterpreted, at worst ignored.  The government of “We, the people,” a government which derives its power from the consent of the governed is out of control. 


The president has become a de facto king.  He continues to ignore or circumvent the Constitution to get his way.  Congress?  Forget Congress, Obama appoints czars and makes the rules he think we should live by.  The Courts?  Forget the Courts too.  Obama only obeys the laws he likes, the laws that support his nation-killing agenda and will ignore any ruling that does not suit his needs.

Obama is every bit a dictator, an imperial tyrant ruling by his personal whim, as King George III was 235 years ago. 

It was on this day 235 years ago, that Thomas Paine published one of the most influential American revolutionary pamphlets: Common Sense.  Pamphlets and broadsides spread the seeds of discontent and Thomas Paine was a master of the language of revolution. 

It is time for a second American revolution.  Blogs, Twitter tweets, and Facebook posts will sow the seeds of this second revolution. 

We may have elected the present-day tyrant, but he has done more than any other president in history to destroy not only the letter of the Constitution, but its spirit.  As King George before him, we must depose King Obama.  

While the focus is on who will we select as president, the 2012 election is about taking America back.

The exceptional, strong, free, and prosperous nation that was America will not survive four more years under Obama’s thumb.  We will all become slaves of the state. 

However, while we must depose our king, we must also install in Congress principled people of reason and integrity who will reclaim the government for the governed — the people.  It is time to throw the bums out and take an axe to the government. 

This year we have a chance for a do-over, to start again and move forward.  We must rekindle the revolutionary spirit of 1776; the defiance expressed in Common Sense

We must choose wisely.  We must ignore the hype and hoopla of the campaigns.  We must ignore the lies and distortions of the mainstream media. 

Finally, we must educate ourselves.  Use the internet.  It is the world’s biggest library.  Become well versed in current trends and events, but learn their historical roots and underpinnings as well.

We all live full and busy lives.  Collecting the information to become an informed citizen is time consuming, even daunting.  However, without that information; without truly informed and educated citizens, we are doomed to failure as a nation. 

I will do my best to bring issues to your attention, quote and refer you to sources, and even suggest actions. 

However, in the end it is up to you to make the right choices.  The future of America depends on those choices.

Underwear, Shoes, Cupcakes, and Too Much Government

The TSA ineptness and insanity continues.

A story posted on the Drudge Report from The Boston Channel reports that the fools at the Transportation Safety Administration — the unionized, tax-payer funded molesters and voyeurs charged with keeping grannies in Depends and other terrorists off of U.S. airlines — would not let a woman board a flight from Las Vegas, Nevada back to her home in Boston because her cupcake was a security threat.

This ridiculous episode is just the tip of the iceberg of the ever-expanding operations of what amounts to a KGB-style national security police where United States citizens are under constant scrutiny as threats to national security.

Paul Joseph Watson reports on Info Wars that in addition to the $5 billion the TSA has already spent allegedly securing our airports; they are now asking Congress for an additional $25 million, to supplement the $110 million they have already spent, to fund additional VIPR (Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response) teams. 

The VIPR teams conduct random, warrantless checkpoints throughout the nation, without probable cause, to search for and detain anyone suspected of, well, anything, on the highways, in bus stations, on trains, anywhere.

Watson quotes an article from the Los Angeles Times stating

The extra money is being demanded despite the fact that there is “no proof that the roving viper teams have foiled any terrorist plots or thwarted any major threat to public safety,” according to the L.A. Times report, which also highlights how the TSA’s sniffer dogs are used to single out people for questioning if the dog smells the scent of the owner’s pets on their clothing.

Now to complete an evil triumvirate, earlier this month Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which includes provisions (Title X, Subtitle D, Section 1031, page 359 of S 1867) that allow unlimited detention without trial of anyone the government considers a terrorist or a supporter of terrorism.

If this does not make it clear the federal government has grown too big and too powerful, and dangerous to our personal freedom and physical liberty guaranteed by the Constitution, then consider this piece of information: In recent Congressional debates whether to pass a continuing budget resolution (CBR) to keep the government fully funded, proponents of the CBR said that without the resolution, the government would have to lay off more than 800,000 NON‑ESSENTIAL workers.  Nearly a million NON‑ESSENTIAL workers!  Why are non-essential workers employed at all?

According to a report published in March 2010 by USA Today, federal employees earned an average salary of $67,691 in 2008, nearly $10,000 more than the equivalent private sector jobs.  The article states, “The federal government spent about $224 billion in 2008 on compensation for about 2 million civilian employees.” 

Forty per cent of the federal civilian workforce is non-essential.  Eliminating non-essential employees makes the government smaller and more efficient — and eliminates $54 billion from the federal budget.

It is past time to reclaim our government and re-establish just who is the servant, and who is the master.

Deficit, Congress, and Shadow Government

In yesterday’s post, I reported on recommendations by The Cato Institute and Downsizing Government that would trim $772.8 billion dollars a year from the federal budget.  Over a decade, this totals more than $7.2 trillion in savings.

The Office of Management and Budget projects a $1.3 trillion budget deficit for fiscal year 2012.  In this scenario, the cuts recommended by Downsizing Government would cut the deficit to approximately $404 billion, 4.4 per cent of the estimated 2012 gross domestic product (GDP)

However, according to a Wall Street Journal article last February, “The deficit would decline in fiscal year 2012 to $1.1 trillion, or 7% of gross domestic product, under Mr. Obama’s plan, as a year-long payroll tax holiday and an extension of federal jobless benefits expired, administration officials said.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate dropped to 8.6 per cent in November.  Despite this decrease, millions of Americans will start losing their unemployment benefits beginning next year as the extension expires.  Those fortunate enough to be working will pay higher payroll taxes as their “holiday” ends.

Congress is discussing whether to continue to extend unemployment benefits and whether to continue the payroll tax “holiday,” key elements in the presidents’ deficit plan that will increase the cost of government and increase taxes during an economic train wreck.

It should be painfully obvious by now, to all but the most deluded sycophantic idolater, that the president’s policies are not working.  It is time to stop rehashing the same tired, unworkable economic theories (Keynes), and return to what works: Less tax, less regulation.  The policies of Ronald Reagan (with a Democratic Congress) and continued by Bill Clinton (with a Republican Congress), ushered in an unprecedented era of posterity.

We must cut more from federal spending to avoid the stifling effects tax increases will have on economic recovery for it is economic recovery, not tax increases, that will bring more revenues to the federal coffer.

The best place to begin additional cuts is the thousands of agencies that micromanage the lives of every citizen.  These agencies represent a shadow government that operates by its own rules, not by the rule of law, and are unaccountable to Congress or the public.

Message to Congress: Stop spending.  Take a wrecking ball to government.  Butcher your pet pork.  Burn the tax code and federal regulations.  Slash the budget to the bone. 

There are only 337 days until Election Day.  We are watching.

Federal Turkey Costs Us All Too Much

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day feast this year, because if federal policies don’t change, you may have to eat Spam next year instead of turkey.

According to Andrew Packer in a moneynews.com article, this year’s traditional turkey feast cost you 13 per cent more than it did in 2010 and the turkey alone cost 22 per cent more.  This, according to Packer, is on top of a 28 per cent increase in the cost of turkey from 2009 to 2010.

A 50 per cent increase in the cost of turkey is nothing to be thankful for.

Why the sudden, severe increase?  There has been no great increase in the demand for turkey.  There has been no disease or environmental catastrophe decimating the turkey supply.

The problem is the giant turkey, better known as the federal government bureaucracy.

The monetary policies of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke cause inflation.  Inflation is a hidden tax on everyone which disproportionately affects the poor.  While America is beginning to feel the inflation pinch in its food budget, Bernanke, like Nero, fiddles, stating inflation is “transitory.” 

I think the Chairman better check his dictionary.  Dictionary.com defines transitory as not lasting or, lasting only a short time.  Two years of 25 per cent inflation is not transitory, not even in Mr. Bernanke’s fantasy world.

However, Fed monetary policy is only part of the problem.

According to Packer, “Turkey farmers are blaming the rising prices on how much it costs to feed a turkey (and other livestock) these days.  Corn makes up 60 percent to 70 percent of the cost of raising a turkey.”

Got milk? Dairy cows are fed corn. Prefer ham instead of turkey for the holidays? Hogs are fed corn. Chicken or eggs? Corn again.

Why, you ask?  It’s the big turkey again.

Due to federal mandates and subsidies, we now use more corn for an inefficient fuel additive (ethanol) than we do for food.  In addition, more federal turkey rules keep foreign, non-food bio-fuels uncompetitive.

The giant turkey demands more of your taxes while at the same time forcing you pay more at the pump and more at the supermarket to feed your family.

As you watch your food budget shrink, ask yourself if this giant, resource-gobbling behemoth is what the Pilgrims envisioned in the Mayflower Compact, or, is it what the founders foresaw when they crafted the Constitution.

I think not. 

It is, however, the direct result of decades of failed government policies exacerbated by President Obama and his band of clueless idiots.

The Rule of Law

The rule of law, as opposed to the rule of men, is what separates a democracy from a republic, and what protects liberty from tyranny.

This idea is enshrined in the founding documents of the United States: The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America. 

The Declaration of Independence is the philosophical foundation of the United States.  The Constitution is the blueprint to ensure and protect the liberties defined in the Declaration.

If you want to understand the foundation of this country, and how the government is designed to work, you must consider these two documents together.  To sever one from the other yields the warped leftist notion of a “living” constitution, a constitution free to morph with the whims of society, and the notion that we are not governed by a set of fixed rules, but again, by the whims of society at the moment.

This method of thinking marginalizes the Declaration and the Constitution.  It relegates them to the dust bin of history.  This mindset is prevalent in today’s Democratic Party and those even farther to the left.  This un-value, or contra-value, system has reached a new level with President Obama and his henchmen.

One of the pillars of the rule of law is the first clause of Amendment 14 to the United States Constitution:

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.  No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

In a recent article (Union President Testifies: ICE HQ Ordered Agents Not to Arrest Illegals–Including Fugitives) CNS News reports that the president of the union representing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in testimony before a House Judiciary Subcommittee October 12 said ICE headquarters ordered agents NOT to arrest illegals.

Chris Crane, who is also an active duty ICE agent, said in his testimony:

“Aliens who could not be arrested included but were not limited to ICE fugitives that had been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge as well as aliens who had illegally re-entered the United States after deportation, a federal felony.”

Crane’s testimony continued:

“ICE officers and agents also alleged that they were not permitted to arrest or even speak to confirmed or suspected illegal aliens encountered in the field during operations and were prohibited from running standard criminal record checks for wants and warrants.”

Of course, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, whose office oversees ICE, denies all of this.

Obfuscation, deceit, lies, denials, and constitutional circumvention are the trademarks of the Obama administration from top to bottom.  Worse, this practice has all the earmarks of a crass political maneuver of pursuing Hispanic votes for the president’s re-election bid.

Whenever a valid constitutional law is violated, that law must be enforced equally.  This is the essence of the rule of law codified in Amendment 14, Clause 1, of the Constitution.

To pick and choose which laws to enforce, when, and against whom, is not one of the powers delegated to the president by the Constitution.  (See Article II of the United States Constitution)  It is definitely not within the scope of any federal agency.

When an individual assumes the presidency, he takes the following oath of office set forth in the Constitution (Article II, Section 1):

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Preserve.  Protect.  Defend.

President Obama has failed to fulfill any of these three basic principles he pledged to uphold.

If an ordinary citizen failed to uphold an oath, they would face dire legal consequences.

If we are to remain a nation guided by the rule of law, all must be equal in the eyes of the law.  This is why the statue of Lady Justice wears a blindfold.

The President and his cronies have put themselves above the law, above the Constitution, and above the people from whom their powers arise.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it….

Deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed!

It is time to rid the United States of the curse of the Obama administration — either by the ballot or by impeachment.
