A Warning from England — Don’t Go There!

“…to disarm the people — that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”  ~George Mason

As the Democrats and their statist/communist dupes begin an all out assault on our Second Amendment rights, the English have sent us a warning.  No, they are not threatening us, they are warning us not to go down the same path that is leading them to chaos.

Please watch this nine-minute You Tube video England Warns America: Don’t Let Them Take Your Guns.  This video was featured on Conservative Videos.com today (December 30, 2012).

The warning is clear.  Our Founders did not trust government and did everything they could to minimize that power.  The purpose of the Second Amendment, in fact, the entire Constitution, is to protect citizens from the government.

A free, educated/informed, and armed citizenry is the foundation of a free society and a threat to any government that steps out of bounds.  It is these three things that the so-called progressives have attacked and altered over the last 100 years, weakening the foundation of our free society.

The progressive statists do not believe in freedom.  They cannot trust people to make the proper decisions for their lives.  To counter this, they regulate and control everything from the food we eat to the way we raise our children.

The progressive statists have taken control of public tax-supported education.  The educational system is making children functionally illiterate.  Students graduate from high school barely able to read, write a coherent sentence, and unable to balance their checkbooks.

The educational system does not teach students to think critically, rather, it teaches students to take tests.  Rarely can one answer life’s problems by selecting one answer from four on a standardized test.

Americans are not well informed.  The progressive statist worldview dominates the mass media (television, newspapers, and radio).  If the facts don’t fit their progressive statist agenda, they hide them, alter them, or simply make something up that fits their purpose.  The worst of these is omission.  A free society must have informed discussions on the issues.

The Founders understood the tendency of governments to grow and oppress the people they to serve and sought to prevent it.  Progressive statists also understand this as government growth and oppression are their objectives.  To attain that objective, they must disarm the population.

The Second Amendment states,

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”  ~Amendment II to the Constitution of the United States of America, Ratified December 15, 1791.

To the Founders, a militia was citizens armed and ready to protect their rights at a minute’s notice.  The Founders suffered under the oppression of the standing army of the British and saw militias as a safeguard against a standing government army.

It is not the military that citizens should fear; rather it is myriad armed federal agents from the FBI, TSA, and IRS to hyper-militarized local police departments that represent today’s standing army occupying the United States.

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia?  It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty….  Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.”  ~Elbridge Gerry, from the floor debate over the Second Amendment.

An armed citizenry stands in the way of tyranny, whether that tyranny is from our government, criminals, or terrorists.  As the video says, “Don’t let them take your guns.”

“No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
~Thomas Jefferson
