The political Left and the Democratic Party will not rest until they gain absolute control over every aspect of our lives, both public and private.
The political Left is a malignant cancer spreading throughout the American system, choking and sickening it until it dies a painful death.
The political Left seeks to establish a fantasy land where all are equal — equally poor and controlled by a mastermind or a group of “experts” who will tell you what is best for you. This is Statism. Statism is a political philosophy where the individual’s rights are granted by, and subject to the whims of, the central government.
Not only must B. Hussein Obama be purged from office, but all of his crooks, cronies, and communists, and the rest of the useful idiots that populate the political Left. They are all dangerous to our lives and liberty as free citizens under the Constitution of the United States.
The Left has tried to marginalize Congress and the Supreme Court by concentrating and abusing power in the Executive Branch. They ignore or subvert the Constitution through reams of executive orders, millions of pages of regulations, and Czars accountable only to the king, I mean president.
Now the Democrats have mounted a direct assault on the Constitution and the freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment by proposing a “People’s Rights Amendment” to the Constitution.
The Democrats, led by the increasingly sickening House Minority Leader Nancy “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it” Pelosi (D-CA), claim they want to take the money out of politics.
According to CNS News,
“The constitutional amendment the Democrats seek would reverse the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. In that decision the court said that the First Amendment protects a right of free speech for corporations as well as for individuals, and that corporations (including those that produce newspapers, films, and books) have a right to speak about politicians and their records just as individuals do.”
A usual, the Democrats cloak their true intent with warm and fuzzy, feel-good language. By claiming to take money out of the process and stating the Citizens United decision has unleashed a slime, Pelosi is obfuscating the truth. The proposed amendment has dangerous and far-reaching effects.
A National Review editorial says, “…Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats, frustrated by the fact that the Bill of Rights interferes with their desire to muzzle their political opponents, have proposed to repeal the First Amendment … The amendment would hold that the rights protected by the Constitution are enjoyed only by individuals acting individually; individuals acting in collaboration with others would be stripped of those rights.”
That is the goal of the Statist: Eliminate the rights of individuals or groups so they cannot challenge the “Divine Rights” of the masterminds, the anointed ones. This is nothing new, as Chief Justice John Roberts noted in his opinion in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission:
“The government urges us in this case to uphold a direct prohibition on political speech,” wrote Roberts. “It asks us to embrace a theory of the First Amendment that would allow censorship not only of television and radio broadcasts, but of pamphlets, posters, the Internet, and virtually any other medium that corporations and unions might find useful in expressing their views on matters of public concerns.”
Under the proposed amendment, the foundation of personal liberty established in the first amendment would be gutted. Instead of stating, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” the First Amendment would read more like “Congress shall make laws regulating all the people’s behavior concerning religion, speech, the press, and of assembly, and everything else.”
“The so-called People’s Rights Amendment would have some strange consequences: Newspapers, television networks, magazines, and online journalism operations typically are incorporated. So are political parties and campaign committees, to say nothing of nonprofits, business associations, and the like. Under the People’s Rights Amendment, Thomas Friedman would still enjoy putative First Amendment protection, but it would not do him much good inasmuch as the New York Times Company, being a corporation, would no longer be protected by the First Amendment. In short, any political speech more complex than standing on a soapbox at an intersection would be subject to the whims of Nancy Pelosi,” according to the National Review.
This is not a distraction or diversion. This is Statism rearing its ugly head and trying to flex its muscles. As this proposal moves forward, the Left will use the same tired and divisive racial, economic, and sexual class warfare rhetoric to beat us into submission and acceptance of this Trojan horse.
We must not allow ourselves to be fooled or distracted. Even the thought of amending the linchpin of the Bill of Rights is cause for grave concern for our future as a free people. It must stop now.
Fortunately, amending the Constitution is a very difficult process. There are two ways amendments proposed and passed. Article 5 of the Constitution states:
“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress….”
If the stupid party (Republicans) doesn’t drink the Koolade, the dangerous party (Democrats) cannot muster a two-thirds majority to advance this obscene amendment to the States.
We cannot let the Statists destroy the First Amendment. It is one of our primary defenses against governmental abuse of power and the destruction of personal liberty.
Without the protections of the First Amendment, the entire Bill of Rights is in jeopardy. Without the Bill of Rights, we become a nation of slaves; slaves to the government that was designed to be our servant, not our master.
“…Cities may be rebuilt, and a People reduced to Poverty, may acquire fresh Property: But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrendered their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.” ~John Adams
