Obama versus The Rule of Law

The United States, at least before Obama came to power, is a nation that is governed by the rule of law rather than by a person or group that puts themselves above the law.  Much to the consternation of the American Left is the notion that the law is supreme and the fact that concept is woven into the fabric of the Constitution.

In the first three years of the reign of King Obama I, we are fast becoming a nation governed by men, not laws, and in the progression towards oppression, we are losing the natural laws granted by God and enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.

The list of unaccountable, unelected czars and federal department heads is too large to discuss.  However, the problem with them all is that they serve the king, not the people, and operate outside the realm of the Constitution.

I call this extra-constitutional power and presidents and Congresses, on both sides of the political aisle, have been complacent in this erosion for at least 80 years.  Prior to that time, the federal government was small and svelte, providing only those services enumerated in the Constitution.  As I have said before (thanks to my friend Russ for the quote), the operative word in the Constitution is NO.  The Constitution sets up a basic framework for governance and then limits that government’s power to protect the people and the immortal words penned in the Declaration of Independence.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed….”

Now we have czars and ministers who serve no one but the president and his agenda.  According to Frontpagemag.com,

“Since his election as president, Barack Obama has appointed approximately three-dozen so-called ‘czars’ to manage various governmental responsibilities.  These czars have been described as ‘super aides’ who work across agency lines to push the president’s agenda.  CBS News says they ‘report directly to Mr. Obama and have the power to shape national policy on their subject area.’”

Admittedly, other presidents have appointed czars, however President Obama has appointed more than anyone and, of greater concern, they all share Obama’s radical, transform-America-into a-third-rate-power, socialist agenda.

The appointment and use of czars is unconstitutional and is a direct threat to the rule of law and the Constitutional separation of powers.

We are seeing what one man rule can do. 

  • The president is trampling on the First Amendment with his insistence that Catholics, or anyone else of conscience, pay for abortion and contraception with the help of Czar Sibelius. 
  • The president, along with a majority of Congress, has stepped on the right to due process and the prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure in the Fourth and Fifth Amendments through dubious provisions of the National Defense Appropriation Act. 
  • The next target on the O-Team’s agenda will no doubt be the right to keep and bear arms guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

Over the past three years, we have seen the dream of hope and change promised so eloquently by candidate Obama, morph into a nightmare of weakness abroad and dependency and despair at home.

The only hope we have is for a regime change that will return our once great nation to the rule of law come November 6.
