One small step for safety; one giant leap towards the destruction of liberty.
According to an article in USA Today, the NFL wants to pat down fans from the ankles up. (see NFL wants pat-downs from ankles up at all stadiums) Lessons learned, no doubt, from the TSA. What’s next, strip searches?
How complacent and lemming-like have we become to just passively accept violations of our fundamental, God-given rights guaranteed by the Constitution. The founders made it perfectly clear that this type of nonsense, as well as the physical abuse perpetrated by the TSA, is not acceptable in a free society.
The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” (Emphasis added)
Benjamin Franklin once said “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.”
Is that “little temporary safety” at a football game worth the price? Are we so afraid that we cannot attend a public event without subjecting ourselves to the degradation and embarrassment of a physical search?
To live life in fear is not a life worth living. Life is fraught with danger. We face risk of harm, even death, with every breath we take. It is part of life. It is part of nature. Despite our arrogance as a species, we cannot control nature — we cannot control fate.
In this life, it is only in the warped fantasy of the godless, socialist utopia that we are free from harm; and in that nightmare, we are also “free” of liberty. It is those who believe in this “utopia” who usurp the power of government in an attempt to control life and eliminate liberty. These are the people who perpetrate and excuse the atrocities of the TSA.
Now, in the name of the great god of safety, the NFL wants to pat you down before the game.
We must make our displeasure known. We must be loud and clear.
To make it crystal clear that we are fed up with all the intrusions into our personal lives we need to revolt — economically. We must boycott any entity, corporate or governmental, that attempts to weaken or destroy our personal liberty.
We must make it clear that we will not trade our “essential liberty” to watch a football game or travel on an air plane.
NFL fans: stop buying tickets.
Travelers: stop flying on major holidays.
Once the average Jane and Joe opt out, the system, whether it is the TSA or the NFL, the system will change or collapse in bankruptcy. This is how great changes are affected. It has worked before, and it will work gain.
Ronald Reagan said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’” Truer words have not been spoken.
However, it is time Americans stand up and take care of themselves.
It is time the government, the liberals, and all the other do-gooders, to leave us alone. When they do, we will lead happier, more productive, and safer lives with the full blessings of liberty.
